
Western Canadian Portfolio Management Game
Are you interested in trying out the stock market to see what all the fuss is about but don't have any money?
Or maybe you're someone who wants to hone their stock trading skills while competing for cash prizes and a letter of commendation?
The Western Canadian Portfolio Management (Stock Game) 2011 offers beginners and veterans alike an opportunity to practice their skills in a friendly realistic trading environment involving student from across Western Canada! The best traders at the end of the competition will get a cash prize while many more will get letters of commendation from Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel and Dean Knight Capital Management Limited for beating either the S&P 500 or TSX by 5%. Based around the Investopedia simulator platform, traders will get the opportunity to invest across North American markets using many of the tools available to real traders. For those just starting out, help will be available so you can start having fun immediately.

What is the duration of the competition?: Begins October 29, 2011 - March 9, 2012
How much? $10
How much are the cash prizes? $500, $200, and $100 for first, second, and third respectively
How do I get a letter of commendation? If you manage to beat either the S&P 500 or the TSX by 5%, you will receive one.

1) Register an account at Investopedia using the following link click here
2) Fill out the BC Stock Game form
3) Pay the $10 to anyone at the Finance Club Booth
4) Once paid you will receive an email invitation to join and get trading!

Finance Club Business Cards
Cost: $30 for 100 or $35 for 250
The Finance Club prints business cards for our members. We sell stacks of 100 cards for $30 or $35 for 250 for our members. Such rates are considerably less than the very same services performed by Kinkos and Staples. They will come particularly in handy for our many fall networking events! Business cards are a great tool to leave a lasting impression on industry professionals at our networking events and are an excellent way of portraying a strong professional image!
If you are interested, please send a reply to Gwen (gwwong@sfu.ca), with the following information:
- Full name (As you want it to appear on your card)
- Phone number (Only one number please)
- Email Address (What you would want to give to potential employers)
- And Title! (please see below)
Note: Your title on the card will be "BBA Candidate" or "Active Member" unless you are a Project Manager or part of the Internal and External Committees. Please remember to double check your information to make sure it is absolutely correct!
Club Tutoring Services
Cost: $20 per hour
Are you having trouble obtaining your desired grades? The Finance Club currently offers tutoring services for the following courses:

Our tutors are highly skilled, have received an A- or higher in their respective courses, and will work with you in one-on-one sessions in order to prepare you for your final exam. Sessions are $20 per hour and we will take care of finding a tutor that best suits your needs.
