Occupy Charity Street Mock Case Competition

Who: First and Second Years interested in participating in Case Competitions
Date: February 16, 2012
Time: 5:00PM-10:00PM
Where: Mahony & Sons Burrard Landing (1055 Canada Place, Unit #36); Parking available in the Vancouver Convention Center or street side on Canada Place Road. 
What: Informal Case competition to learn more about
Why:
The night will consist of a networking session and a fun MOCK case competition where students will be given an opportunity to hone their PRESENTATION, TEAMWORK, and ANALYTICAL skills! We will split everyone into teams in which they must present to Scott Low (co-founder of FS Financial) and his committee as to how and why he should INVEST in charities!

This is a very innovative concept in the FINANCE INDUSTRY, and FS Financial is one of the only unique financial firms that donate to CHARITIES! Find out how they make this work for their business over a FREE burger and beer! The prizes will include cash donations in your name to a charity of your choice, a certificate of commendation. However, the mainINCENTIVE is that FS Financial is seeking for students looking for SUMMMER INTERNSHIPS as Financial advisors in which the LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) training (worth roughly $500)! So come out, have a fun night and help GIVE AND GROW!

The Stock Game: Launch Party and Workshop

Who: Registrants of the Western Canadian Portfolio Management Competition

What: Formal introduction to the Portfolio Management Challenge by your Project Manager Alexandrine Austin, Workshop held by Leith Whether, Networking and Refreshments

Finance Club x ASA x SMA x Golden Key Society: Graffiti Pub Night

Hey Finance Club! Our Graffiti Pub Night is now on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10. This should be better for everyone as the following day is a holiday. If you have previously bought a ticket and can no longer make it, kindly email me or drop by our booth and we can arrange a refund.

CFA Night 2011

You are cordially invited to the annual 2011 CFA Night!

This is a huge event and only happens once a year, so here is your chance.

Speaker Series with Scott Low

Scott is the Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Canada Financial Group Inc., one of Canada's leading insurance and investment distribution firms. He has been an entrepreneur for over 30 years, and he has been responsible for the marketing, sales, and sales training of the business. Scott also consults to a number of other BC based businesses, including Financial Strategies and helps them grow. He is a founding Director, and sits on the Board of The Reformed Multiple Sclerosis Society.

    CFA Info Session

    Do you dream of being a business leader? Do you want to be among the elite in the investment management profession?

The SFU Finance Club will be hosting a Stalla Information Session for those who are interested in completing the CFA designation .  We will be having Jennifer Moe, a Stalla representative on campus to introduce the CFA designation, the program requirements, the exam topics, and the best way to succeed on the exam! David Atkinson, Treasurer for Vancouver CFA Society and Portfolio manager at Leith Wheeler will also be attending.
    This event will offer a better a better understanding of the advantages of the CFA designation, what opportunities are available in a variety of sectors, and answer any questions you may have.

    Don't fret! Come to our 'Financializer' next Friday, which will be kicking off the start of many social events for the summer! You are more than welcome to bring friends and have fun with us!     GE Captial Speaker Series

    The Finance Club will be hosting the much-awaited GE Capital Speaker Series next Tuesday, September 28 from 4:30 in room WMX 2210. We have the Senior Vice President of GE Capital, Jeff Roth, coming to talk about opportunities and employment at GE Capital, what they look for in the right candidates, and his experiences after graduation and successful career in finance.


    This event if free to attend, and there will also be food and refreshments provided. Due to the nature of this event, and also as GE Capital is now one of our main sponsors, the Finance Club will be charging a refundable deposit for your attendance of $5.00. If you attend this event, then this money will be refunded back to you right away. However, if you sign-up but do not attend, then you lose this deposit. We will have a booth set up on the second floor by Tim Hortons intermittently each day this week to collect this refundable deposit. Collections and registration will begin starting tomorrow at 1:30. We have a very limited amount of seats, so please make sure you reserve your spot as soon as possible, before they run out!
